What are the requirements to qualify for the competition?

For each event, only competitors who are faster than a certain qualification time will be allowed to compete. For example, if the qualification of an event is Average under 1 minute and 15 seconds, then the competitor's official WCA average must be under 1 minute and 15 seconds in order to qualify to compete. However, for 3x3x3 Fewest Moves and 3x3x3 Multi-Blind, only the top N competitors will be allowed to compete. If the competitor does not meet the qualification requirements for a certain event, then the competitor will not be able to compete in that event, and the competitor's registration for that event will be cancelled. Can I sign up for an event that I do not meet the qualifications for?

Even if you do not meet the qualifications for an event at the moment, you still have time to do so. You have until the qualification deadline, which is June 1, 2023. If you establish a time that meets the requirements for an event at a competition that takes place before the qualification deadline, you qualify for that event.

I did not qualify for an event that I signed up for. Can I get a refund?

Yes, you can. You can either manually delete your event for a quick refund, or you can receive a collective refund on the refund date. The refund will be the same as the refund for dropping an event: 50% of the additional cost per event, except for 3x3x3 Fewest Moves and 3x3x3 Multi-Blind for which the refund will be 100% of the event fee. Please refer to the events and policies page.

Will the qualification requirements change?

It is possible that the qualification requirements may change before the qualification deadline. We may become more lenient, but not stricter. Qualification requirements will not change after the qualification deadline.

When will registration open?

For the registration schedule, check the events and policies page. All the dates are based on 00:00 in Korea Standard Time (GMT+9).

What will the registration process be like?

You will be finished with the registration process after selecting your events and paying the corresponding registration fees here.

What is Toss Payments?

Toss Payments is an online payment service agency - no separate registration is necessary. You only need to enter your card information for making a payment.

Can I change the events I already signed up for?

Yes, it is possible. You are free to make any changes to your registration during the registration period. To add an event, select the event you would like to add on the registration page and pay the additional fee for the added event. To drop an event that you have previously signed up for, delete the event on the registration page and request a refund. Please refer to the refund policy on the events and policies page. Exchanging an event is not possible, so you will have to do both 1) delete an existing event and 2) add the new event.

I am unable to participate in the competition. Can I cancel my registration?

Yes, it is possible. If you delete all the events you have signed up for on the registration page, your registration entry for the competition will be cancelled. In accordance with the refund policy on the events and policies page, you will be refunded 50% of the additional cost for each event, and no refund will be issued for the base registration fee. For example, if you have signed up for 3x3x3, 4x4x4, and Megaminx, but wish to cancel your registration, 3,500 KRW (50% of the 7,000 KRW cost of the 4x4x4 event) + 5,000 KRW (50% of the 10,000 KRW cost of the Megaminx event) = 8,500 KRW will be refunded.

Can I spectate the competition?

Yes, it is possible. You can pay a fee of 25,000 KRW in cash for a spectator admission ticket (spectator lanyard and name tag) at the competition. For competitors, up to three tickets can be bought at a discounted price of 15,000 KRW; starting from the fourth ticket, it will be the full price of 25,000 KRW.

By what time should I arrive at the competition venue?

Please arrive at the competition venue at least 30 minutes before your event begins. You can check the starting time of each event at the schedule page.

Is the competition schedule finalized?

The dates are finalized, but the event-specific schedule is subject to change. Schedule adjustments may be made based on the number of participants per event after registration is closed.

Do I have to check in on the first day of the competition?

No, you do not have to check in on the first day if you are not participating on the first day. You may check in on the first day your first event starts. We do recommend competitors to check in early.

How do I know when it is my turn to participate?

After checking in at the reception desk at the entrance, you will receive a competitor lanyard with a personalized timetable with information about your group for each event. This cannot be changed, so please arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before the start of your event and pay attention to the announcements at the competition venue. If you miss your group for an unexcused reason, then your results for the event will not be entered.

Are food and beverages allowed at the competition venue?

In both the exhibition hall and conference rooms, all food and beverages other than water are prohibited. Please use the restaurants, convenience stores, and cafes for food and beverages; please keep any containers of (leftover) food and beverages concealed in the exhibition hall and conference rooms.

What is the Rubik's Nations Cup 2023 and how do I participate?

Rubik's Nations Cup 2023 is an unofficial national team tournament that began at the World Rubik's Cube Championship 2017. The Rubik's Nations Cup 2023 will take place in the evening of Monday, August 14, Day 3 of the competition, and details can be found on the Nations cup page.

Where do I ask questions at the venue?

There will be an Information Desk at the entrance of the venue and inside the venue. You can ask our friendly staff members anything regarding the competition. If there is anything regarding the competition that you would like to ask before the competition, please email KoreaCubeCultureUnited@gmail.com.

Can anyone enter the competition venue?

Competitors must carry their competitor name tags and lanyards and spectators must carry their spectator tickets. There will be security guards at the entrances of the exhibition hall checking.

Are there any regulations regarding COVID-19?

There are currently none. Wearing a face mask inside the venue is recommended, but there is no mandate.

Can I take pictures and videos at the competition venue?

As long as it does not violate WCA regulations, taking pictures and videos is allowed. When filming your own solves, you should make sure that the camera screen is blank or out of your sight, and when filming other competitorss solves, you should do so from a reasonable distance away. Camera flash must not be turned on! Also, by participating in this competition, you consent to the photos and videos of you during the competition and external publication of these materials. I would like to help staff the competition. What can I do?

Thank you for the interest! If you're interested in participating in staff duties (judging, running, scrambling, and so on) throughout the competition, please read the Volunteers page. There are many special benefits for selected staff members, so we hope that you volunteer!

Can I watch the competition online?

The entire competition will be streamed live on online platforms such as Youtube.
